The parent company of the Sing Tao Daily, the Sing Tao Newspaper Group Limited, was founded in 1938 and is based in Hong Kong. The Sing Tao Daily was first published in the same year. It has one of the longest publishing histories among the Chinese newspapers in Hong Kong.
After opening Sing Tao Daily's first overseas office in San Francisco in 1975, the company set up International News Centers in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, London and Sydney. Currently, the company has twenty-two offices globally.

In 1998, Sing Tao Daily became a member of Toronto Star group. As of 2007, Sing Tao Daily is the largest Chinese newspaper in Toronto and Vancouver.
Sing Tao Daily (European Edition) is the one of the many Chinese newspapers in Europe. Sing Tao Daily's European Edition is published six days a week with claimed readership in excess of 80000 covering 12 European countries, including UK, France, Netherlands, and Germany.
